SUMMER 2022

About The Ballet Project

01

What style of ballet inspires you?

Videos of different ballet styles will be presented with an explanation of each genre. We will explore the differences between romantic, classical, neoclassical, and contemporary ballet so that each student may see what inspires them most while learning how ballet progressed as an art form.

02

Choreographic Games will be played.

The facilitator will offer prompts for students to follow to create their own movement phrase.

03

Collaboration or Solo.

It will be possible to work in a small group or to work on an individual phrase or dance. This will depend upon the student’s level of comfort or artistic vision.

04

Music and Improvisation.

Music is an important investigation and will be explored in various ways

What music inspires you?

How to count musically for ballet choreography.

Explore freely dancing before turning it into a teachable phrase.

05

Connecting through creativity is fun!

This is an exploration that embraces every ballet student, whether shy or extroverted.

It is about being spontaneous, listening to one’s  creative impulse, learning how to work effectively in a group, and to gain self-trust in order take risks in a safe environment.

If the student wants to participate but isn’t keen on choreographing, she or he may participate as a dancer only until they feel ready!

06

Sharing Work.

Sharing work at the end of each class is just that - sharing.

This isn’t about creating a perfect performance but rather - it is about sharing dance ideas in full community support!
